FOR WE WALK TO GLORIFY HIS NAME
| In the concluding words of the Lord’s prayer, Jesus throws the doors
of His Church open to the Gentiles, to all who would believe in Him. Again
and again the Savior asks that “they might be one.” In Christ Jesus all
believers should be united, for in Him we are one body. Walking in the
fellowship of believers should be a very close relationship, since
Jesus compares it to the communion which exists between His father and
Himself. Are we truly aware of this kind of closeness with ties that
bind all believers into a fellowship of one?
What rivers of comfort flow from those tender and familiar words that Jesus prays for the Church!” I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one”. What divine authority and assurance! The only begotten Son of God could address those kind of words because He is co-equal with the Father. It is Jesus’s will, his gracious but also mighty will that we be one in our daily walk. Jesus wants His people to show His glory through their lives in this world, by having oneness in relationship with each other as He has with the Father. When Jesus was doing his Father’s work on earth, he walked in complete submission and obedience to His Father. This is the key of the way we should walk. God the Father sent His Son to honor and glorify Him by perfect submission and obedience. As our Savior prayed shortly before His capture, "I have glorified Thee on the earth: I have finished the work which Thou gave me to do" (John 17), so now He is glorified in His church. Our Father is not only glorified by the perfect submission and obedience of His beloved Son, but also by believers who walk with Him in submission and who are led by the Spirit of God. This word "walk" is an appropriate word to illustrate our "living walk" with Christ! We glorify God's name by walking in holiness. We must ask God to give us a holy reverence for His Name; in our hearts, thoughts and words. "Set a guard over my mouth O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips." (Psalm 141:3) The Church must show the light which is God's glory before all mankind, so that they will see what is in us. Then will our Father in heaven be glorified. The objective of every prayer and desire of God's people who have a tender heart toward the Lord, must be that the Name, Jehovah God is to receive glory in our daily walk. Then the church will "walk" under the blanket of the Father's glory, manifesting peace and good will throughout the whole earth. (Revelation 3:20) "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone
hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and
he with Me." This is a standing invitation still valid for the Church today.
God is longing for His bride to reach maturity. He wants to dine with her
and walk with her, side by side. I myself want to walk with God, more worthy
of Christ and the salvation He gave me. That “walk” is a unified walk,
a mature walk. May we all have this same desire. Let us freely pray: "With
your help O, Lord Jesus, we want to always walk with You!"

Autobiography of Edwin B. Stube
(The last part of the Autobiography of Edwin B. Stube)
| It was during these early days in Semarang, that the Lord brought young
men into our prayer fellowship, Rochani, Bo Sioe, and Gwan An, along with
other young people. After 18 months in the city of Semarang, learning the
language and customs, and also surviving the bloody communist coup of 1965,
we moved to Nongkojajar in order to be closer to the many villages needing
evangelism. Five of the young men from our fellowship group came with us.
In the months ahead, our house often had 30 or more people visiting us.
It was not unusual to have 50 for lunch. We were grateful for the spacious
quarters Ichwan Zakharia made available to us. Many would make their home
with us. One of our Javanese household members, Bu Yati, was a teacher
at the local junior high. Her nephew, Herry, came to live with us in 1968.
He was a sickly child who had asthma since early childhood. His mother
and father, an Air Force officer, had not been heard of since shortly after
the failed communist uprising of 1965. Bo Sioe prayed for Herry's asthma
and then dragged him up and down the mountains evangelizing until late
at night. Herry never had another asthma attack. Barbara and I adopted
Herry as one of our own children.
We determined not to evangelize according to any man-made system, but to enter villages only as the Holy Spirit led us. When we entered the house He indicated, we usually found a sick person or someone with a definite need. We immediately commanded the sick to be healed in the Name of Jesus or ministered to the need. Neighbors would gather to see what had happened and we would tell them about Jesus, who had done the healing work. As a result the family and some of the neighbors usually accepted Jesus. We would promise to come back in a few days to tell more about Him. One day I was in this village and a little kid said in a prophecy "Go north two kilometers and there you will find a blind person. You are to preach the Gospel to the family." I felt uneasy about this and said, "Not me, Lord!" But no sooner had I said in my heart that I really didn't want to go then I found another young girl standing in front of me who said, "My servant, do not be afraid. I am sending you." So I went north two kilometers with a teenage team and found about 100 tiny shacks. The Lord prompted us which one to go into and we went in asking, "is there anyone blind here?" There was. The Lord healed the woman of blindness and as far as I know that whole family was led to the Lord that evening. I began to believe that the Lord had a new and more radical plan for me in Indonesia, and that he wanted to introduce revival less associated with big names and large crowds, more related to the ministry of the whole Body of Christ. I had already discovered that Bible schools and training centers in the United States which were the most alive spiritually had one thing in common. They did not begin with buildings, professors or curriculum, but with a vision from the Lord and with much prayer. When they began to put into practice the vision the Lord had given, invariably unbelievable obstacles and frustrations arose during which they learned deep lessons about the meaning of the Cross and its application to their lives. When they remained faithful to the vision through all these difficulties, the Lord's spiritual blessings began to be poured out on them. But when I studied the Lord's own method of discipline, I found it far more radical than anything I had seen anywhere. Jesus gathered a little group of twelve young men to be with him. He never built a building, never scheduled a class, had no curriculum and no courses. He simply told His disciples to follow him. They began to walk, they saw His miracles and heard Him talk to all sorts of people-- to the crowds the sick and demon-possessed, the seekers and His opponents. The Pharisees, Sadducees and tax collectors. When there was time, Jesus sat down wherever they were and talked to His disciples about what they had seen and heard and answered their questions. He did not pull rank on them, but rather became their friend. They ate and slept together and were continually in the closest kind of fellowship. From time to time He sent them out on their own to put into practice what they had learned, but He never sent them out alone. He sent them in teams, never smaller than two members. Jesus obviously wanted to introduce an entirely new method and concept of teaching, because all this was in direct contradiction to the "professional" methods of the religious leaders and teachers of His day. When we read in Acts 2:42 that the Christian converts in Jerusalem after the day of Pentecost "continued steadfastly in the apostles' teaching and fellowship" we may be sure the apostles used the same method Jesus had used with them. They did not build buildings or schedule classes, but rather met frequently in close, intimate fellowship, and even living together in households. Soon those trained by the apostles were able to become leaders in beginning similar fellowships in other places. Paul used this same method in training Timothy, Titus, Luke and others. They became members of his team, following him around for a few years, occasionally being sent out to practice without Paul, and eventually going out to exercise similar discipling ministries of their own. In the Lord's method practice came first, followed by explanation as time and opportunity allowed. Thus it was not surprising to me that the first Holy Way team of Rochani, Bo Sioe, Gwan An and I, was led to begin our training in the Lord's school by first ministering for three months on the island of Celebes. There was time in the weeks and months that followed the mission to Celebes, to fill in the theory and have some questions answered. Since that time the Lord continually alternated times of travel and experiences of all kinds with quiet periods of sitting at His feet at home to learn from Him and His Word. Paul said that he "fully preached the Gospel of Christ . . . through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Holy Spirit." We discovered the validity of his example, that evangelism must reveal the power of the Living Lord Jesus. If we preached forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ in word only, the Indonesians remained very polite, smiled pleasantly and said they believed us. But in their hearts nothing happened and they still also believed in their witch doctors and charms. But when we demonstrated the miracle-working power of Jesus Christ they realized that He is greater than any witch doctor, full of love and compassion which witch doctors could not demonstrate. Almost all the villages around Nongkojajar the site of the first Holy Way team and the town itself were opened to the Gospel through miraculous healings. We had to learn to live in different kinds of situations and to appreciate what Paul meant when he said, "I have learned to abound and to be abased." In the villages we often had to wash in the stream, sleep on the floor and eat whatever the people ate. Most of the time it was usually rice and some greens they cooked. I believe the word of Jesus when He says, "wherever you go, eat what they set in front of you." Sometimes this isn't something a restaurant would advertise to win customers. But we eat it and God even gives us the grace to enjoy it. The food hardly ever made us sick, as we believed God to protect us when no other food was available. But people who came as tourists often got very sick. One time in 1966 when I stood up to preach in the church in Magelang, I had a vision of the Holy Way. I described it to the people and the Lord then explained it in prophecy through them: I saw a desert, very hot and dry, and as far as the eye could see. At first the desert seemed devoid of life, but as I looked, I saw that there were skeletons and scattered bones. Also, I saw a few people who still had life in them. They were able to creep and crawl around a bit. The Lord said that they were people who had not yet found the Way. They were lost, wandering in a dry and perilous place. Then, to the side, I saw a road, a highway. Next to the road trees and green plants grew, giving shade to the road. On the highway was a small group of people with hands uplifted, praising the Lord. Their faces had the light of great joy. After a bit they turned and saw the people struggling in the desert.. When they called to them, the people in the desert saw those on the road and some of them began to struggle toward the road. But they were too weak and sick and the heat was too intense for them to reach it. The people on the road wanted to know what to do. They asked the Lord, Who was standing in their midst, "Shall we go out into the desert and drag the people back to the road?" "No," the Lord answered. "If you go into the desert to draw them in, you will also perish in the heat. Just reach out your hands toward them and continue to praise me. I, the Lord, will bring them to you." So they reached out their hands toward the people in the desert and praised the Lord. And He lifted those in the desert up in His arms and carried them to the river that flowed beside the road. He laid them down beside the river. They drank the life-giving water and immediately stood up and began to thank and praise Him. The Lord explained that the river was the River of Life, and that those who drink receive His life. The ones who were brought in and drank of the river joined those on the road to praise God. After a little while the Lord called them all to walk with Him as He went before them on the road. Away in the distance ahead of them they could see mountains. Behind the highest of them, which Jesus said was called the Holy Mountain, was a faint glow, which grew to a bright light as they approached. The river that was beside the road flowed from this mountain. At the side of the road were holes and threatening things, distracting sights and amusements. Some of the group began to notice these distractions and wandered aside to see them. Soon they became separated from the group, ceased to see the Lord or praise Him, and the light and joy left their faces. They could not walk on the road anymore. The Lord said that the highway was the Holy Way, and could only be walked by those who were willing to stay close to Jesus, their Master and Guide. Those who continued on the road kept looking at the Holy Mountain, longing to be there. But the distance was very, very great and they became so tired they were ready to die. They cried out to Jesus to help them. In His love and compassion for them He sat them down beside the road. He Himself went over to the river and got water for them to drink, which fully revived them. Then in humility, He kneeled down and washed their feet with the water. He explained that if they looked at the mountain the distance would
seem too great and they would become discouraged. But if they looked only
at Him and just followed Him on the road, glancing only occasionally at
the mountain, they would not become tired or discouraged. They discovered
that by keeping their eyes on Jesus they approached the mountain much more
quickly. Above the mountain the light became extremely bright. As they
approached they could see that the light came from a city of great beauty,
with buildings and spires of gold, glistening streets of golden hue and
the glory of God shining all around.

CONSTRUCTION ZONE ON LONG ISLAND
The builder of the house has greater honor than the house itself...
and the builder of all things is God Heb. 3:3,4.
A Holy Convocation with Bridge for Peace
| Two prominent themes emerged for me, the Spiritual House and Unity.
"No one knows the time. . ."(Acts 1:6-8), This scripture read on
Monday morning was followed by an explanation of the culture Jesus lived
in, which continues in some places today. In the Middle east, after a young
man's bride is chosen by his father, the bridegroom constructs a house.
Upon its completion, he will bring his bride home. The bridegroom is inclined
to rush, throw up a bunch of sticks and collect his bride for the marriage.
However, his father examines the house's suitability. The father has authority
to approve or disapprove the building. When he declares it fit, his son
goes immediately, brings his intended home and they are married. God the
Father has authority to examine the Spiritual House His Son Jesus came
to build. Only The Father knows the hour when the Spiritual House will
be satisfactorily completed.
The Spiritual House is built of living stones (1 Peter 2:5). As we prayed one morning, God gave a vision of precious gemstones poured from heaven. Emeralds, diamonds, rubies, sapphires and more began to pile up in the center of our circle and spill across the floor to cover our ankles. God's outpouring continued, tiny and large gemstones reached our knees, as our intercessory prayer gathered-in those we love. As we worshiped, multicolored gemstones from His treasure pouch ( 1 Sam 25:29) mounded up higher and reached our waists, these were the nations. God continue to pour faceted gemstones, his secret treasures in hidden places (Is 45:3), into our midst. The height of the pile became overwhelming, as the river impossible to cross. ( Eph 3:18, Ez 47:3-6 The Father will examine the material, the souls made acceptable through Jesus' Holy Blood. He will show us how to gather even more than those who are already gathered. When the number overwhelms, He will take us further, as He took Ezekiel. He will remove our excesses that we may be fit perfectly together. He will teach us Holy Spirit language so that it will be possible to build in unity. (Gen 11:6). We pray the unity God has put between The Holy Way and Bridge for Peace,
the care we have for each other that stretches from NY to Baltimore, Virginia,
North Carolina, Indonesia and across the world, will always be set upon
the firm foundation of Jesus our Cornerstone. What He built in each of
us will stand, as we focus on the new vision of heaven, His new revelation
and adjust our earthly walk accordingly. Here in Medford, we often laugh
at how God reaches out to the nations from the little upper room in our
home, calling saints here and sending us out to minister His love, all
over the world. In the Holy Way, we have found matching, unusual, living
stones! We rejoice in God's most peculiar work. God calls us His treasure.
He brings us together to rub shoulders with each other. That rubbing removes
the rough edges, brings out the gold and reveals a new facet that fits
perfectly with another's streamlined spirit. Holy Convocation at Bridge
for Peace was a sacred time. God fit us together, strengthened our bonds
and created something exquisite!
Annette Eckart, Bridge for Peace
P.S. Thanks to our dear friends who cleared out trees on the Wading River site for the Bridge for Peace house and to those who stood in intercession. |
LONG ISLAND IN GOD’S EYES
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth,
to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.
II Chronicles 16: 9 a
| It was a great opportunity for us to be a part of the ministry at Long
Island, New York. We went there to attend a Holy Convocation for the second
time as partners with Bridge for Peace, in Medford. God has chosen our
beloved Ed and Annette Eckart to serve from that area in worldwide outreach,
through Bridge for Peace. The Holy Way team consisted of Mike Chapman,
Lolli Hart, Agung, and myself Nazar. On the way north, as we crossed the
Veranzzano Bridge approaching New York City, we saw the smoky darkness
over the whole area. It was so grim and somber. We realized that this was
the sign of deep mourning for all the people who had lost family
and loved ones at The World Trade Center on that tragic day, September
11, 2001
Holy Convocation was held from September 23-28,2001. Every day we met twice for worship, in the morning from 10 until about 1 p.m., then at night we gathered at 7:00 p.m. God spoke to us in many ways. He gave us direction to find His heart and also His will on how to pray. He guided us not only to know His heart but also to know the hearts of each other. About twenty people came to the meetings regularly. There were many spontaneous teachings, visions, gifts of the Spirit, prophecy, intercessions and also tears. Tears not for ourselves, but for the people who live in New York and this great nation, who still don’t know who Jesus is. So many “Christians” live in this land but are spiritually blind, and “don’t know their right hand from the left.” (See Jonah 4:11). During the break times we went to the Bridge for Peace property at Wading River, to help out by cutting down trees and clearing the land where the house will be situated. .Some people came to support us in prayer. The Eckart’s and affiliates of Bridge for Peace are trusting God that one day soon they will build a place to be used for ministry. We also visited a mission center nearby, where we saw God’s wonderful works such as providing needy people with food, clothing and the Gospel. We also had opportunity to pray with some. One family who had much sickness, asked for prayer to be healed. We cry out to the Lord, for His mercy and compassion to flow across this land and bring healing, revival and salvation. God loves this land. Through our praise and worship God releases His power to set us free from the power of the principalities of this world and also from the heavy burdens that oppress and bind us. In prayer we find the power, authority and ability to conquer the fear that always attacks us. Remember, He is risen from the dead and He is alive! We, as the Body of Christ, must rise up from our anxiety and grief, and cast them to the foot of the Cross of Calvary. We must also rise up from our human flesh of the old nature, and live in the high place of the Spirit. That place is in the heavenlies, the place where we are seated with our God, the Lord Jesus! AMEN. Nazar and Agung

HOLY CONVOCATION ON LONG ISLAND
In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light
shineth in the darkness; and the darkness apprehended it not.
John 1:4-5 (ASV)
| September 23rd four members of The Holy Way traveled to New York to
join with our Long Island brothers and sisters for a Holy Convocation.
We came to sing His praises, to worship Him and to hear His voice. I am
not sure when our brothers and sisters at Bridge for Peace gathered together
to decide on the dates for the Holy Convocation, but I know that Jesus
was in the midst of that meeting as surely as He was present during the
entire convocation. As we arrived in New York, we found New York City to
be darkened, and the local people struggling to put their lives back together
in the wake of the disastrous events of 9-11-01. At Holy Convocation
we found an Almighty God and Savior who is 'Light and Life' (John 1:4)
and who came, " to bring good news to the poor to proclaim freedom for
the prisoners, and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19(NIV)
His assurances to all who gathered there those five days were truly 'blessed' and all of His promises were 'yea' and 'amen'. They were to us present there, to those who are reading this article, and for people everywhere who call on the 'Name of the Lord'. Jesus exhorted and encouraged us when He said, "Listen to Me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn;" (Isaiah 51:1; NIV) In Him we are all part of the same rock and quarry, Jesus Himself. Jesus made it clear that He was bringing blessing from what was meant to be cursing. He showed us in those 5 days that He still reigns, and that He still holds us all in the palm of His hand, that He still has the power to save, heal, and set free. However, He also showed us that we have a job to do, and these are not the times to be laying up in our beds. We are His hands and feet and He has placed His Holy Spirit within us to lead us and guide us into all knowledge and truth and the path that we are to walk in. But He also made it clear that these are days in which we must take that step, (leap) of faith and continue to walk in the Spirit. Finally, the Lord showed us that meetings like Holy Convocations are not just once in a while retreats that many of us have become accustomed to. Gathering together in groups such as Holy Convocation is now more than ever a necessity for the people of God. There must be times where small groups of people can gather around Jesus, to worship Him, listen for His words, and to do them. These meetings will be earmarked by the Love of Jesus to His body and through His body in the leading and power of the Holy Spirit. Gone are the days when we can afford to sit around the bee hive and act like a queen bee always receiving and never giving. The Lord is calling us to be more like worker bees that are always working for His Kingdom, and bringing Him the Glory. The New York Christians really rose to the occasion during this Holy Convocation. For even though it could have been a time for God to attend to their own hurts and needs, they treated those of us from out of town and state as honored guests. That spoke to me of the presence of God in their midst. They truly manifested the light and life of Christ, and the darkness truly never apprehended us. AMEN MAC+

Please, come. ALL ARE WELCOME! EDITOR'S CORNER We decided not to pre-empt an Advent/Christmas message as we approach this most holy season, in order to express thoughts on the horrendous terrorists attack of Sept. 11. 2001 on our nation. However, we do offer at this time an intriguing prophetic message on cassette tape, that Fr. Stube delivered at a New Wineskins Conference, NC, in 1997. It is a most timely message, and is entitled PRAYING FOR THE CITY. To order, please write to the Bealeton address and include a $5.00 donation per cassette. REQUIESCAT IN PACE On September 17,
2001, Willis Haskell, a wonderful servant of the Lord, was called to his
eternal home. He was from Lewiston, Montana. He, with his departed wife
Mildred, became forerunners of The Holy Way back in the sixties,
with Fr. Ed and Barbara. Actually, he became the very first President
and held that position with joy and honor, for many years. Some of us,
namely Helen Anderberg who lived in Montana during that era, remember Willis
as a sweet-spirited man, filled with the Holy Ghost. Quite a few years
ago, the Haskell's were able to come to Holy Convocation at Claggett While
there, they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. It was a blessing
for all, especially for Fr. Stube. Recently, Willis had been living with
his daughter, Judy Sampson, in California. We, of The Holy Way are
truly grateful for the lives of Willis and Mildred, who now stand in the
Presence of the Lord!

HOLY WAY LITERATURE WE FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT THE LORD IS GIVING US REVELATION FOR THESE DAYS IN WHICH WE LIVE. It is a great burden on our hearts that this be communicated as widely as possible to the Body of Christ. At the June meeting of the Holy Way fellowships of Baltimore and Virginia, we felt that it would be much more in the pattern of the Holy Way if we not charge any set prices for our books and pamphlets, but that we distribute them freely, relying entirely on contributions as the Spirit leads.
