the unclean shall not pass over it, and fools shall not err therein."

BURNING FAT

Greetings from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, peace in His Name! It has been a long time since I have written an article for The Holy Way Newsletter, but that isn't to say that the Lord has stopped working and teaching us here in North Carolina and all of the Holy Way in North America. What I am about to write about is a teaching that the Lord gave us during one of our times of worship here. I have entitled it 'Burning Fat' for at least two reasons. First I am aware of the growing need for the disciples of Jesus Christ here in America to be strengthened in their Christian Character. We know this is true because the body of Christ must be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. The teaching begins with 1 Pet 2:9; " But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." (NIV)The Apostle Peter makes an extraordinary statement by saying that we as a people are chosen, royal, and priests. Being priests is not necessarily something that the church understands today. What we must do is agree with that concept because it comes from the 'Word of God', then we must look into its implications. There are many duties and commands for the priests of God. What they were to wear, where they were to live, what, where, and when they were to eat the sacrifices brought to the Tabernacle and many other such things. These are all listed in the first five books (Pentateuch) of the Bible. Of all of these the Lord has brought to our attention that which is written in Leviticus 6:8-13:8 The LORD said to Moses: 9 "Give Aaron and his sons this command: 'These are the regulations for the burnt offering: The burnt offering is to remain on the altar hearth throughout the night, till morning, and the fire must be kept burning on the altar. 10 The priest shall then put on his linen clothes, with linen undergarments next to his body, and shall remove the ashes of the burnt offering that the fire has consumed on the altar and place them beside the altar. 11 Then he is to take off these clothes and put on others, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a place that is ceremonially clean. 12 The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add firewood and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat of the fellowship offerings on it. 13 The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out. (NIV)One of the daily jobs of the priests was to 'keep the fire burning'. As the above scripture points out, the burnt offering was to remain on the altar all night long. This is similar to what the Paul says in Romans 12:11 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-- this is your spiritual act of worship.(NIV)Just as then so it is now. All through the day and night our spiritual act of worship should continue. For the priests of Moses day, this meant that the fire on the altar of burnt sacrifice must be kept burning all through the night and that first thing in the morning it should be attended to again. Of course this is not to say that we as the people of God are not to go without rest. For David says in Ps 127:2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat-- for he grants sleep to those he loves. (NIV) What it does say is that first thing in the morning of every day we are to, keep the firing burning. So which fire is this that we are to keep burning? Scripture makes this clear. The fire that the covenant people of God are to keep burning is that very same covenant fire that we have been given, Whenever God decided to cut a covenant with His people, he sealed the sacrifice of blood with fire. This is true from Abraham to the Church. Therefore we must understand that the fire that must be kept burning is not that which was lit by our efforts, but that which was given by God. God prescribes the sacrifice and then it is consumed with Holy Fire from heaven. The fire that the priests must keep burning, then and now, is that which God gives. In the Old Testament it was the fire that came down from heaven to consume the sacrifice (Leviticus 9:24) that the Old Testament priests kept burning. Today it is the fire of Pentecost that we must daily keep burning. The Old Testament priests were given specific orders on what to do every morning. "Every morning the priest is to add firewood and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat of the fellowship offerings on it." Timothy is told something similar by Paul; 2 Tim 1:6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.(NIV) Fan into flame can also be translated "re-kindle".. as in flame. The gift of God can be understood as the 'fire' of God that is the Holy Spirit that comes from heaven. Every day we New Testament priests must understand that this is important to us. No runner can win a race if the race is just a sequence of re-starts. The race must be a continuous movement where one grows closer and closer to the perfection that is found when we become 'perfect(ly)' like Him. Finally, the instructions on how to fan, or re-kindle that flame (fire of God) are of utmost importance. The instructions are very simple. In fact if you have ever cooked a hamburger on a grill you know what God is talking about. According to God's instructions, the priest is to clean off the ashes from the day before, arrange the wood and add the "FAT" from the fellowship offering. By fanning the flame that remains from the day before, the fire begins to hit the "FAT" from the offering. Just like grilling a hamburger, when the burger is flipped and the liquid "FAT" on top hits the fire it flares up and a huge fire rises up. The same with the fire on the altar of burnt sacrifice. The difference is that the fire in our case is in our hearts. It is the fire of the Holy Spirit that needs to be re-kindled daily. The "FAT" from the fellowship offering is that which the Lord has shown us through our fellowship with Him and one another from the day before. As we place that again on the altar, the fire of the Holy Spirit rises up within us and we continue to grow in Him as from where we were the previous day.
Practice the continued presence of God in your life. Burn the "FAT" every day!!

Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.
Psalm 127:1

Every time I read this psalm, it teaches me the principle of the need to be more dependent upon God. Even if we seem to do everything just about right, we still need to depend upon the Lord for success, both in our daily lives and in our ministry. As The Holy Way learn to depend upon God, He will lead us in faith to pray for spiritual things. The Lord desires that we realize our need to depend upon Him, not only for the temporal but for the eternal. He wants the totality of His gifts freely given, to teach us important, essential elements. That is to seek His face and the kingdom of heaven. We trust God that He will continue to do a wonderful work in The Holy Way.
The Lord has been good to The Holy Way. At the end of the business meeting, the 2006 Officers and Trustees were elected as follows:

A PROPHECY

Many of you are floundering and fainting by the wayside today, because you are being saturated with news of darkness. I would remind you that My words are life, the full expression for My people to walk in humility, faith, courage and hope. Now that is Good News for your souls and spirits. You are also caught up in the busy-ness of the age. These so called good works will not satisfy the desires of your heart, nor Mine. However, as you come apart with me day by day in the closet of your heart, you will learn to hear My voice and we will have renewed fellowship together. It is in this setting that you will be comforted and directed by My Spirit says the Lord. I AM your hiding place, your shelter from the storms of life. I know your love for Me, but your love has faded some. Come back again to find Me as your first love. We will have fellowship together and you will become true witnesses of My light, peace, truth and love. I have called you to become over comers. This is a high call for My Kingdom purposes. To this end you will succeed if you remain steadfast. Once again I remind you that as the battles in the world increasingly rage, My people will not fear, because they have been walking with Me in an intimate relationship. I will never leave you nor forsake you. Lift up your heads then and rejoice!

NEWS from THE HOLY WAY FOUNDATION
A Youth Report from Manado, Indonesia

As the young people here at Manado, we give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ because of His wonderful love and grace given to us. We are not only growing in our spiritual life here, but we are growing in numbers as well. We not only thank the Lord, but we also thank the elders, who as God’s servants, never cease to give us direction, disciplines, and discernment, helping us to move forward and build up the Lord’s Body. Jesus Christ as the Head of the Church continues to give strength and ability for His workers to serve, so that the Body of Christ may come into perfection in these last days.
We realize that our nation is facing difficulty in every aspect, which affects society. At this time, many problems arise in the midst of our lives, both young and old. But these kind of situations become a challenge for His Church/the Body of Christ, to move ahead in His plans!
This means that no matter what happens, we need to move forward by walking in the power of the Holy Spirit! We want to be the kind of people that God desires.
The Body of Christ in Liwutung, Manado continues moving forward. We now have about 150 people divided into age groups, under 5 elders who are responsible for our growth. We have formed teams to do ministry locally but also outside the town. So far we have reached the villages of Molompar, Esandom and Ranoketang.
Wherever we go, the music becomes a mighty tool. We praise and worship God, exalting Him with our music. He begins to wake up the people and the atmosphere changes as we continue to exalt Him. We ask you to pray that we will be able to get more music equipment, so that our music ministry might be even more effective. God will build His Body wherever people love to worship Him.
We realize the work God has given us to do, is not easy. There are many hindrances and challenges to those doing God’s mission in these last days, who still hold to His vision to build up  the Body of Christ. Therefore, let us all work together in unity and be faithful.
May the Lord Jesus Bless You!

THE HOLY WAY-NORTH CAROLINA
2005

Now that the year of 2005 is over, I thought that I would write down some of what the Lord has shown us and include a few testimonies from some of those that are currently here. The United States has been described to me as "The richest of nations economically, and the poorest of nations spiritually." There is a great need in this country for those that will go forth to preach the Gospel and to disciple those that the Lord brings forth. There is also a great need for maturing groups of Christians where these new believers can receive hands on ministry and training. There are very few that are mature and willing to do so.
There has been a great pollution that has come into our churches in the ways of false teaching, false government and false religion. The result of this has been the continual eroding of Christian 'Faith' and 'Hope'. There is a way to stop this, but we must act now. We must begin to Evangelize, we must begin to disciple people in what Jesus has commanded us to do. We must be a group that has spiritual wisdom to discern the false teaching, and bring forth true teaching, knows biblical principles of church government, and teaches it to the disciples, and who understands the inroads of false religion and breaks them down. The way that we have begun this in North Carolina is by doing what we learn from God, the Bible and the Holy Way and then continuing to follow the direction that Jesus gives us  through the Holy Spirit. We have seen many changed lives, and several phenomenal and powerful miracles of God. What we do is simple. Every day we seek the Lord in the morning at 9 o'clock and then again at 7 o'clock in the evening. We live together, pray together, and place our hope in God together. God responds quickly and we integrate what he shows us to do by doing it. Doors have opened to us in churches, businesses and schools. All of this takes time, patience and perseverance. All of this increases our Faith and Hope. Many people have come to The Holy Way in North Carolina in the year of 2005. People have come from around the nation, New York to California. They have come to seek God and His plan for their lives. Many have sought God and found Him, and all have come closer to His call for their lives. This last year has been very exciting. We have baptized 9 into the Kingdom of God, we have seen marriages restored, the power of addiction and the devil broken, and many healing. Of those healing, many were restored quickly to health, and even one severely broken back was completely healed (this testimony is below). We see God is on the move, but we remain in constant prayer because we do not want to miss anything that God has.
We have been blessed to be part of what God is doing here in North Carolina. It is hard to see what the enemy of our souls has done to so many. It is hard to see what he tries to do among us. We have many times been severely grieved in spirit, soul, and body, but we are glad to say that the Lord Jesus Christ finds a way to see us through every trouble. This is our experience. This New Year of 2006 has started off with a bang. We presently have 15 people in the house for worship and/or discipleship. We are expecting at least 8 more in the near future if not by tomorrow. This next year, as many of you know will be a difficult year for the Holy Way, we will have to trust in the Lord more than ever. Now we will really have to pray! We hope that if you can not join us physically, that you will continue to support NC and the entire Holy Way with fervent prayer and anything else that the Lord leads you in. You are always welcome in North Carolina! May we all continue to be blessed and be a blessing!

Here are a few testimonials that I have asked folks here to write up for you!

When I first came to the Holy Way I wasn't quite sure what God's purpose was in my being here, I just knew to come. In the four months that I've been here, I've experienced freedom from spiritual legalism, false accusations and guilt and am beginning to grasp who I really am in Jesus. Staying here at The Holy Way has been a time of equipping and preparation for me as God is daily renewing my mind and teaching me who He is and where He is leading me.  S. -Pennsylvania

The Lord has set me free from a life of bondage and addictions. He's filled me with His love in a way I've never known before, He's restored my relationship with my family, and has taken back what the enemy tried to rob. Now that He's restored right relationship with Him, He has given me a vision for my life and future. B. - New York

Before I arrived at The Holy Way, my life was filled with empty darkness and chaos. I was depressed and couldn't wait to die, then I came here and the light of the one true God pierced through the dark fog that was my life and freed me from the chains of depression. Though I am not completely fixed, my life now has a meaning and death has lost its  appeal. I look forward to tomorrow because God has blessed me and filled my life with a new joy that I never knew existed. I am now free to live and be alive. S. - New York

I would like to share with you one of the many miracles God has done in my life. The most recent miracle occurred on Thursday, 12-29-05 at 10:15 in the morning when I had a serious accident. It was that day that I fell 14 feet off of a roof flat on my back onto a board with nails protruding from it. The medical specialist for spinal injuries in Johnson City, Tennessee, said that one of my Lombard vertebra was severely fractured, that I needed surgery,   and that I had a 50/50 chance of never walking again. That night, before surgery, I felt a hand on my back…I believed that God was healing my back!  The next morning the doctor told me that there was no need for surgery because there were no fractures; I felt like jumping for joy…because God had in fact healed me. Certainly it is true, for God declares it in Isaiah 53 :4-5. "Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." - M. - THW, Moravian Falls

THE WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE

Recently I’ve been turning over in my mind the seemingly impossible experience that Jesus was called to endure after His baptism, and before His public ministry. During my lifetime, I’ve heard the passage read in church numerous times as recorded in Matthew 4: 1-11 and it has been  part of my private reading.   But lately I’m beginning to see this “wilderness experience” in a much deeper vein. It is absolutely awesome to consider that God the Father sent His Son into such a horror situation, led by The Holy Spirit Himself.
Just think about it! The angry terrain of the wilderness offers it’s stony, sandy, treeless mountains and gorges for shelter. It’s thorny vines, blowing sand and  relentless heat during the day are accentuated by bone chilling cold at night. Where did Jesus sleep? Perhaps in a dark inhospitable cave inhabited by snakes, wild animals and insects?  How could He tolerate such conditions for forty days and forty nights with no food at all; with no change of clothing and no means of comfort? Perhaps He found some small springs or maybe in a drenching storm could capture some drops of water on His tongue to quench the terrible thirst?
After the spiritual battle that Jesus encountered in this scenario, scripture tells us that He was hungry. One might think  this incomparable experience in the wilderness would have been sufficient to meet the Father’s requirements for His eternal plan. But no, now the real tests begin. His food was to fight the warfare and do the Father’s will.
.  Here the tempter enters the scene, ---  the ultimate deceiver from the beginning,  the enemy of God, His people, and His Kingdom plan. Listen to his wily tactics. “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread. “Jesus replies  with the Word of God and speaks, “ It is written, man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
Then the devil takes Him up into the holy city, sets Him on the pinnacle of the temple and says: “If you are the Son of God, throw Yourself down, for it is written, ‘In their hands they shall bear You up, lest You dash Your foot against a stone.’  Jesus replies to this arrogance, “It is written again, “You shall not tempt the Lord your God.”
Again the devil takes Jesus up on an exceedingly high mountain, showing Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. One can almost picture him making a sweeping motion with his arm and bowing, as he says, “All these things I will give You if You fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus answers, “Away with you Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and Him only you shall serve.” Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.
This entire episode points to God’s great love for all humanity. To think that Jesus had to suffer these  tempestuous trials even before facing His passion in The Garden of Olives and crucifixion at Calvary, is an awesome thing. It is love immeasurable! It is also hope for believer’s to overcome the trials and tests we face on the “wilderness journey” of  life. And what defense  mechanisms did Jesus rely on in the heat of battle and what is God teaching us to follow as a pattern?
Faithfulness, in prayer and times of fasting - Worship and service unto the Lord  - and Standing on the Word of God!
                                                                                        To God be the Glory!
