GREETINGS TO ALL IN THE NEW YEAR OF OUR LORD! 2002

There is something so fanciful, so refreshing about that word, NEW!  A new baby; a new snowfall; a  new opportunity for work; a new bird at the feeder, -- and on and on we could go. Most of the time,  new signifies something to look forward to, to be happy about, or a novel thing to replace the obsolete, but then we experience the opposite, such as a shiny new car that turns out to be a total lemon; new TV shows that are absolutely gross or a new strain of virus that has appeared on the world scene. Without a doubt, last year the nation and the world were struck with the unspeakable, the unprecedented, in the form of new and barbaric warfare that will elicit shock and anger for all time.

In the aftermath of the attacks against New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, it is difficult to even imagine the issue of suffering for the thousands who lost loved ones and who have been terrorized with the memory of their disastrous deaths. Even as changes are slowly unfolding in the nation, just what  further strange and new effects it will have on our society and the world, only God Himself knows.

Speaking of God, let's consider now some of His many wonderful promises concerning the word  NEW! ... His compassion never fail, they are new every morning.( Lam. 3:23); He put a new song in   my mouth.( Ps. 40:3); This cup is the new covenant in My blood. (Lk. 22:20) They will speak in new  tongues. (Mark 16:17) Once again there are numerous references where we could go on and on. You  may want to check others out in the concordance. It's really fun!

So many times in the past, as our local groups have gathered together for prayer and worship, in  Catonsville, Bealeton, or Moravian Falls, invariably, a word would come forth that "God is doing a  new thing in our midst." Finally, we are seeing it come to reality. Hallelujah! New fruit is budding in The Holy Way America. Fr. Ed spoke the prophetic word into being last January, just two weeks before  he died, and it is so! There is new commitment by new people responding to God's call. New interest  is surfacing also by other seekers. In general, there is new hope, new enthusiasm and new expectation  for the fulfillment of the original visionso clearly given many years ago to our beloved founder, Ed Stube, his wife and family. From the onset, The Holy Way was built on prayer, sacrifice and suffering. Glorious new fruit continues to flourish today in Indonesia even under siege of persecution.( See article on Manado.)

How privileged all of us are to be called as part of this ministry, to bring the "Good News" of Jesus to the lost, the prisoner, the rejected and the fearful. This is our mandate which requires a very old, yet very new response, "Here I am Lord, send me."
( Isaiah 6:8b)

Jim's Song .... The Blood Of Christ

Oswald Chambers writes, based on 1John 1:7. When we speak of the blood of Jesus Christ cleansing us from all sin, we do not mean the physical blood shed on Calvary, but the whole life of the Son of God which was poured out to redeem the world. All the perfections of the essential nature of God were in that blood, and all the holiest attainments of mankind as well. We are apt to look upon the blood of Jesus Christ as a magic-working power instead of its being the very life of the Son of God poured forth for men and women. Identification then with the death of Jesus Christ, means identification with Him to the death of every thing that was never in Him, and it is the blood of Christ, in the sense of the whole personal life of the Son of God, that comes into us and "cleanses us from all sin." This powerful meditation gives recall to memory of a wonderful old hymn. Indeed, many regulars of The Holy Way, sang the refrain over the years at meetings and convocations, led by the late Jim Roosevelt who served faithfully and long-term as our treasurer. Jim would sing these words with such gusto and fervor that it would stir-up enthusiasm even of a downtrodden spirit. For those of us who maybe have forgotten these glorious words, we hereby submit: SOME THROUGH THE WATERS, SOME THROUGH THE FLOOD, SOME THROUGH THE FIRE, BUT ALL THROUGH THE BLOOD; SOME THROUGH GREAT SORROW, BUT GOD GIVES A SONG; IN THE NIGHT SEASON ------ AND ALL THE DAY LONG. *** May this inspire each of us to a new and deeper understanding of our true identity as believers and followers of Jesus, through the life-giving power of His most precious blood, shed at Calvary.

REPORT FROM BORNEO

After being stationed two and a half years in South Kalimantan, which takes in the cities of Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru, we have seen and witnessed a powerful move of God's Spirit at work in the churches, especially among the young people and college students. It seems as though the "fall and spring rains" written about by James (5:7) have come here to these cities. The move of The Holy Spirit is very strong and this is the time to edify and build up The Body of Christ.

We work extra hours because the needs are so great. It is necessary to visit these places three or four times a week. In fact, sometimes we have to go three times a day when the needs are overwhelming. Even though the distance between Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru is thirty miles, the Lord has called us to provide nourishment for the new converts.

When we first came here in 1998, there were only about seven individuals and ten families, but now there are around one-hundred in Banjarbaru, and eighty in Banjarmasin. Ninety percent of all these souls are young people. They come from Dayak tribes and Batak people, who were born in Kalimantan. Most of these young people have made a commitment to the fellowship of The Holy Way at Kalimantan. We are convinced that they eventually will become leaders for the building up of The Body of Christ in Kalimantan.

When we have meetings, many people are unable to get inside because our house is to small and can't provide enough space. We are thinking of expanding in order for the new converts and local congregation to have more time together in one place. The Holy Way has a piece of property and a house that was donated from someone in another city. Right now we have been using this place intensively. Since many people come from different places for ministry, we decided to call this place "The House of Zaitun," or in English, "The Prayer House of Olives." It is located close to the college campuses so young people always stop around and visit us. We have started to add on rooms and they want to get involved by donating their talents and energy to help us. We hope that some of these additions will be finished in December so we can make plans for a Family Bible Camp next year.

Please pray with us for: 1. New transportation for the ministry. 2. Provision to prepare a new building for Worship and to house families. 3. Unity in The Body of Christ starting with The Elders.

Thank you for your prayer and support,

Jason Sentof,  Elder

A LETTER FROM MANADO
Dec. 11, 2001

Peace be unto all of you, Herry, Dolly and our Brothers and Sisters of The Holy Way, --- to those whom we love so much in Christ Jesus!

We have been receiving much intimidation these days, and frequent threats of being killed and destroyed here in Manado at The Holy Way Bible Training Center. But we stand firm together in faith, experiencing Christ's protection and peace. Our confidence is in Him who has been faithful and who has promised to protect us. We are in prayer daily, always alert in the Spirit. We continue to go out and serve the Lord in different posts of The Holy Way, especially in the province of South Sulawesi. Also teams are regularly sent to the Islands of Kupang, Bandung, West Java and Surabaya-Malang, East Java. Praise the Lord! His promises are Yea and Amen, and they are eternal!

Thank you for sending us the funds for The Sangir Bible Training Center. The Elders there immediately went to shop for the building materials in the city of Manado. Praise the Name of Jesus! Once again we say thank you so much to the Board of The Holy Way and to every Member for your prayers and support. We have a deep sense of gratitude to Om Stube and to The Holy Way in America for helping us so much over the years, to grow spiritually and physically. Without the prayer, support, and help given, The Bible Training Center here would have never developed to this degree.

My wife Elizabeth and I are planning to visit the U.S. during the summer of 2002, and attend the Holy Convocation with you at Claggett Hallelujah!  Praise the Name of Jesus, and may He bless you all!

Philipus and Elizabeth Sukamto.
Editors Note:

Please pray for the critical situation in Indonesia. Pray also for our brothers and sisters of The Holy Way Indonesia who labor tirelessly to share the Good News of Jesus.
